Well another year is in the books unfortunately it does not include another epic Pig Snout adventure into the wilderness. I won’t dwell on the subject other than to say our more senior members are doing well and sheltering at home based on recent phone conversations with both of them. While approaching them in age (now in my seventh decade) I remain part of the junior cohort.
Our zoom gathering was a success as almost everybody was able to attend with the ritual campfires burning in Massachusetts and New York. Missing of course were the epicurean delights prepared by Aunt Marguerite and Pat. It was accepted with little discussion that Dan has the new record of 3 consecutive years as the winner of the Pig Snout tasting. His Honor was not able to “attend” due to his remote location at a cabin on the Cedar River. A location that we will return to in 2021. John unfortunately was not able to join us.
Thursday, September 9, 2021 will be the start of Pig Snout 29. Our reservation is in and Ed and Linda are looking forward to our return. Just in case you have forgotten Dan chose White Wine from New York for the 2021 tasting. While some might say that this gives others an unfair advantage it must be acknowledged that most of the best NY wines are available at any reputable purveyor of spirits.
The illustration above belongs to a food truck that lives in our neighborhood. I highly recommend their fare but I suspect you are all, except John and I, out of his area. The pig is often at The Freight Yard Micro Brewery, 1.3 miles from my home (easily within walking distance). You know what they say – Buy Local.
